The Brunello di Montalcino is a visually clear, brilliant wine with a ruby red color. It has an intense, persistent, ample and ethereal aroma. There are hints of undergrowth, aromatic wood, small fruits, aromatic herbs and composite jam. On the palate the wine has an elegant and harmonious body, strength and race, it is dry with a long aromatic persistence. Due to its characteristics, Brunello di Montalcino withstands long aging, improving over time. It is difficult to say how many years this wine improves in the bottle. In fact, this depends on the vintage. It ranges from a minimum of 10 years up to 30, but can be stored even longer. Of course it must be stored in the right way: in a cool cellar, but above all at a constant, dark temperature, without noise and odors; the bottles kept horizontally.
The Barbi winery is proud of its 300 wooden barrels and thousands of aging Brunello bottles. Fattoria dei Barbi has always been a guardian of tradition, but also attentive to innovation and a pioneer in every field of oenology. The 66 hectares of vineyards have an average density of about 5,000 plants, and produce on average less than 1.5 kg of grapes per vine; from each plant, therefore, only a little more than a bottle of wine is obtained. The philosophy of the Colombini family and the Fattoria dei Barbi has always been to know and study the most innovative technology and marry it to the best tradition, to improve everything that is produced without ever altering its typicality.
